Singing with the Symphony

As many of you know, when I’m not working for my clients, coaching my son’s tee ball team or engaged in other community activities, I sing as a tenor with the Seattle Symphony Chorale.

The Chorale, founded in 1953, is the official choral group of the Seattle Symphony. Yesterday we performed the first of two performances of Ravel’s abstract ballet score, “Daphnis et Chloe”. Unlike most of the choral work we do, this score is wordless and is tremendously challenging vocally.

Fortunately, Maestro Ludovic Morlot is brilliant at interpreting this type of work, and in achieving exactly the sound he’s looking for. It was a thrill to sing this amazing and challenging work, and I look forward to repeating the effort on Saturday night.

Although I sing purely for the joy of it, I always enjoy an appreciative audience and even an appreciative reviewer. 🙂
