In a progressive area like Seattle, there are many easy ways to get around town. Individuals can walk, bike or take a bus. Of course, the most common way to get to work or run errands is to drive a car. Driving can efficiently and conveniently get anyone and their family to and from any place they need to go. There is no relying on a bus schedule and cars can easily be used in inclement weather.
Still, when getting around by car, it’s always possible to be involved in a car accident. Car accidents can range from mere bruises and strained muscles to long term injuries and sometimes even death. A car accident can also damage one’s vehicle and those damages can range from minor fender benders to a totaled car.
Last weekend, three separate crashes left five dead on the other side of the country in Virginia.
The first car crash occurred on a Friday afternoon. An SUV crossed the center line on Route 50 and hit a minivan. A passenger of the van died at the scene of the car accident. The driver of the van is in critical condition and another passenger was also in the hospital with serious injuries.
The second crash occurred early on a Sunday morning when a sedan crashed into a motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle and his passenger both died at the local hospital after being thrown from the bike. The driver in this incident has been charged with driving under the influence and involuntary manslaughter.
The third crash also occurred early on a Sunday morning. Two people died after their car lost control, crossed the center line and hit a tree. Both occupants died at the scene of the accident.
If an individual is involved in an accident, even as a passenger, he or she may be entitled to compensation for their injuries or property damage. Especially if a drunk driver is the cause of one’s injuries or a loved one’s death, compensation is a crucial component in holding such a person accountable.
