Seattle residents may be interested to learn of a tragic accident that recently occurred in Lake Stevens. According to reports, a 49-year-old man who was driving west on Highway 204 apparently pulled his car to the side of the road when he spotted another car that had broken down which had been traveling eastbound on the same highway.
It is believed that the man then attempted to cross the highway to assist the driver of the disable vehicle. When crossing the highway, he was tragically struck by another car and is reported to have suffered severe injuries. The man was transported via helicopter to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle following accident. Police are continuing to investigate the details of the accident at this time.
Many pedestrians are highly vulnerable to auto-pedestrian accidents. These accidents can cause severe, even catastrophic, injuries to the pedestrian. Speeding, distracted driving, poor visibility, driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and failure to obey traffic signals can all be contributing causes to these accidents. Pedestrians must remain highly vigilant when crossing the streets of Seattle.
If pedestrians are injured as a result of a driver’s negligence, they may be able to receive compensation for their injuries. They may be entitled to receive compensation for lost wages as a result of these accident and injuries, reimbursement of medical expenses, future medical treatment and compensation for their pain and suffering. They may also be able to recover additional damages for any permanent impairment or disability they receive as a result of such an accident.
Those who have been injured in a pedestrian accident should make sure they know their legal rights and all of the compensation that they are entitled to.
