Freezing rain and slick roads have led to numerous accidents resulting in injuries in the Seattle area this week. Thursday morning, a Washington State Department of Transportation worker was hit by a car while assisting at the scene of another car accident, according to a news report.
The employee was reportedly working at an icy crash scene at about 6:45 a.m. at the time of the collision. The worker had responded to an accident in which a car slid into a concrete barrier, not far from where Interstate 405 meets Interstate 5. While the worker was helping the driver involved in that accident, another car hit the first vehicle, which then struck the worker, according to the report.
The worker was transported to a hospital and the extent of his or her injuries was not immediately reported.
Authorities had urged Seattle drivers to stay off the roads until at least Thursday afternoon due to the difficult driving conditions. Roads remained very icy on Friday morning as well, as the warm front was not expected to move in until the late morning.
Auto-pedestrian accidents can have very serious implications-not only physically, but often financially and emotionally as well. In the aftermath of a car accident, it is often wise for victims to seek assistance from a personal injury lawyer. This allows the victim to focus on beginning the healing process, while the lawyer takes care of insurance disputes, medical bills, auto repairs and anything else that may require compensation from a negligent party.
