On Oct. 16, a Seattle University pitcher tragically died following a car accident in Idaho. It is not yet known what led to the car accident, but police have ruled out alcohol as a factor. The 22-year-old student had transferred to the school in the fall of 2010 after attending Spokane Falls Community College.
According to police and local news reports, the student was driving westbound on a highway near Priest River, Idaho when he abruptly steered off the road for unknown reasons. Unfortunately, the force of the sharp turn was strong enough to overturn his car after going off the road. He was wearing his seat belt at the time, but died of his injuries.
Originally from Auburn, the student pitched for the Redhawks baseball team 14 times and even started once for the team this past season.
According to the news source, the baseball coach told the team of the player’s passing the morning of the accident. Later that afternoon, a moment of silence was held at a Seattle University soccer game.
As the family mourns for their tragic loss, they may consider meeting with a motor vehicle accident attorney. Here, it is not known what caused the accident, but the attorney may be able to assist with establishing the possible circumstances.
Seattle residents injured in a car accident may be entitled to compensation for their injuries if the accident was the result of someone else’s careless conduct. An attorney experienced in this area could assist with assessing liability for the accident and bringing forth the appropriate claims for compensation.
