Fun things to do with kids in Everett

Everett is the largest city in Snohomish County, and sits about 30 miles north of Seattle. There are plenty of things families with kids can do for fun in Everett, especially during the beautiful Puget sound summers. Here are a few of my favorites:

1. Jetty Island. This two-mile island is a man-made wildlife preserve managed by the City of Everett. It is accessible only by an 80-passenger ferry, which operates 7 days a week during the summer. Jetty Island is a beautiful retreat from city life, where kids and adults can lounge on the beach, swim, go for a long walk, or just chill out. If you go, make sure to bring your camera.

2. Forest Park. This one is my son’s favorite. Forest Perk is a nearly 200 acre park located in the City of Everett. The park has playgrounds suitable for all ages of kids. There’s an animal farm, an indoor lap pool and an outdoor toddler pool/splash park. Forest park is a great place to hang out and cool off on a hot summer day.

3. The Aqua Sox. There’s nothing like minor league baseball, and the Everett Aqua Sox have done a great job making Memorial Stadium a great venue for kids. The seats are cheap, and you can get really close to the action, or you can spread a blanket in the outfield and relax for nine innings. There’s a bouncy house and other activities for kids so if they get bored by the game there’s always something to keep them entertained.

4. Imagine Children’s Museum. Even during the summer it does occasionally rain in the gresat Northwest. When the weather isn’t cooperating, the Children’s Museum is a great destination. There’s an outdoor play structure on the roof, and inside there are a ton of fun, interactive exhibits.

Whatever you decide to do, the Summer is a great time to get out with the family in Everett.
