Two-car accident closes busy street

Getting in a car may seem commonplace. After all, many motorists in Washington safely use a car every day. But the reality is that hitting the road in a car is one of the most dangerous things a person does during his or her day. Think about it: Driving involves traveling at high speeds while surrounded by hulking pieces of metal weighing thousands of pounds. All it takes is a bad choice or a moment of inattentiveness for those massive pieces of metal to slam into each other. Consider a recent example.

According to recent reports, a Chrysler was traveling southbound over a bridge when its driver allegedly lost control, striking the back of a Pontiac. The crash crumpled both cars and closed down traffic for about seven hours. Following the car accident, the Chrysler's driver and passenger were transported to the hospital for treatment. Meanwhile, the Pontiac's driver and passenger were airlifted to the hospital for unreported injuries. Investigators allege that speed and alcohol caused the accident.

As the Pontiac driver and passenger just learned, car accidents are an all-too-common part of driving in a car. That is true even if a driver does everything right. When the worst happens, these individuals will suffer damage to themselves and to their vehicles.

Overcoming that damage will usually take time to heal and money to pay for treatment and repairs. To help with those costs, Washingtonians injured in a car accident may want to consider filing a personal injury lawsuit. To learn more about whether filing a car-accident lawsuit is the right choice for them, Washingtonians may benefit from speaking with an experienced car-accident attorney.
