Distracted driver kills 1 on Washington highway

On Behalf of | Mar 10, 2016 | Fatal Motor Vehicle Accidents |

It only takes an instant for a person’s life to completely change. When it comes to motor vehicles, even a simple mistake can result in a fatal accident that leaves a wake of devastation in its path. These accidents can completely change the shape of a family forever.

Sadly, recently a man was killed in such an accident on a Washington highway. According to the reports, a Washington Department of Transportation vehicle was involved in the fatal accident. The man driving the vehicle had to pull over in order to replace a flat tire on Highway 18 in Auburn. The vehicle’s lights were activated at the time of the accident. The flat was on a utility trailer that the man’s truck had been hauling.

While the man reached for the spare tire, another driver caused the fatal accident. The 47-year-old driver of a Ford pickup truck claims that he took his eyes and attention away from the road for just a moment prior to the accident.

Distracted driving is a huge problem throughout the United States. Individuals are so busy with their own lives, that they forget how dangerous driving can be. They take their eyes away from the road to look at text messages, to chat with other individuals, to make phone calls or to eat.

Drivers need to give their full attention to the roadway. Distracted driving is a form of negligent driving and can result in serious consequences. A wrongful death suit can help to compensate families who have lost loved ones as a result of a distracted driver. In a wrongful death suit, these families can receive compensation for their losses. While this money can never replace their loved one, it can help to ensure that the family does not suffer financially.
