bad drivers.jpgDo you drive in Seattle? Do you find yourself complaining about Seattle drivers? Maybe you think you’re being too hard on your home town drivers, but maybe there’s some truth in your complaints. Possibly a whole lot of truth.

In a recent report from Allstate Insurance based on auto claims made, of the 200 largest cities in the United States, Seattle ranks 184 in accident frequency last year. Allstate has about 10% of the auto insurance market, so this is a pretty large sample size.

According to the same report, Seattle drivers on average are likely to have a motor vehicle collision every 6.9 years. This is about 46 percent higher than the national average.

I’ve been saying for years that Seattle roads are crazy, confusing and unsafe. With all the left exits, one way streets, 5 way intersections and poor signage, its no surprise we have more collisions than the national average. Add in the rain and overcast conditions and collisions are even more likely.

So what does this mean for you? It means be careful. Be extra careful. Drive defensively, get a dashcam, and above all, make sure you have good Personal Injury Protection and Uninsured Motorist coverage through your own insurance carrier. If you do get hit by one of those bad drivers, at least your injuries will be covered.

Finally, if you have any questions about car accident claims or any aspect of the personal injury process, check out our website or call one of our experienced car accident lawyers.

Meanwhile, please be safe out there.
