Man and infant suffer injuries after being hit by SUV in Seattle

On Behalf of | Jun 5, 2015 | Auto-Pedestrian Accidents |

In an unusual accident, a man and his child in Seattle were recently hurt by an SUV. They were on the sidewalk near the intersection of Madison Street and Western Avenue when the accident occurred. The infant was in a stroller when the accident happened. According to reports, the driver of an SUV was trying to parallel park his car when he somehow jumped the curb. The driver of the SUV claimed that his foot got stuck underneath the brake pedal of the vehicle as he was attempting the parking maneuver. The vehicle hit the pair and pinned them against a building.

Police quickly responded to the auto-pedestrian accident. They were able to free the man and his child. The pair was taken to a local hospital to be treated. Thankfully, reports claim that they only suffered minor injuries in the accident.

Police were continuing an investigation of the incident. In order to investigate, the street was shut down for a time.

Auto-pedestrian accidents, like this one, are not unheard of in Seattle. Distracted drivers, drunk drivers and reckless drivers often fail to spot pedestrians along Washington’s roadways. Despite the fact that cars are supposed to yield to pedestrians, many drivers simply don’t.

Accidents like this one can be catastrophic for victims. People stand no chance when it comes to cars. Serious and life threatening injuries can haunt a person and the person’s family for years.

Victims do not have to be left alone to struggle with the devastating physical and financial effects of a pedestrian accident. Victims may seek compensation when a negligent driver causes an accident.
