Fatal car accident leads to four years in prison for driver

Seattle residents need to drive with care. This includes paying attention to those around them while driving and obeying all traffic rules. By doing this people are not only keeping themselves safe, but they are helping to prevent dangerous car accidents.

When people refuse to pay attention to the road, drive drunk, break traffic laws or engage in other dangerous behavior they can cause serious car accidents. Some of these accidents will result in minor damage or injuries, but many car accidents will result in serious, life threatening or even fatal injuries.

In November 2011, a Seattle man was driving his car between 70 and 90 miles per hour when he crashed into another car. In that accident a 33-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman were killed in the rear-end crash. As a result of this fatal car accident, the man was recently sentenced to four years in prison. The man entered an Alford Plea which didn't admit guilt but admitted that the prosecutors had enough evidence to convict on one count of vehicular assault and one count of vehicular homicide. The man claims a seizure disorder is to blame for causing the accident.

While criminal charges may bring some closure to the case, they cannot help pay for the many expenses experienced by families following a fatal car accident. In order to cover these expenses - including medical expenses, pain and suffering, funeral expenses and lost wages - family members of fatal car accident victims can bring a wrongful death suit. A wrongful death suit can help cover these expenses and others.

This compensation can be crucial for families as they try to heal from the devastating crash. Family members should know that no matter if criminal charges are filed a wrongful death suit may be an option.
