City bus strikes, kills man in Seattle’s Capitol Hill

On Behalf of | Nov 1, 2013 | Bus Accidents |

Bus accidents are notorious for causing serious injury and death. Passengers typically don’t wear seatbelts and it can be difficult for drivers to see pedestrians on busy Seattle streets.

One man was killed recently when a city bus apparently struck him in Seattle’s busy Capitol Hill neighborhood. Although there were reportedly three passengers on the Metro bus, police said none of them claimed to have seen the accident. Police were still trying to determine what exactly caused the bus to strike the man.

The bus driver has been working for the city since 2010, according to reports. Police said they were going to test him for drugs, as is customary after accidents.

Those injured in bus accidents are often left with extreme medical expenses, lost wages and long periods of rehabilitative care, if not permanent disability. After a fatal accident, the victim’s family members are left without that person’s income and companionship. The injured or their families can be compensated for these damages through a personal injury or wrongful death lawsuit.

However, it must be noted that every lawsuit involving a bus accident is not the same. For example, lawsuits against government agencies require different procedures form lawsuits against private parties.

A qualified Washington attorney with experience in bus accident cases can help the injured or their families to understand how the law may apply to their unique case. After a thorough investigation of the circumstances of the accident, a qualified attorney can advise the injured and their families on their legal options.
