Car hits and injures six-year-old on scooter

On Behalf of | Aug 8, 2013 | Car Accidents |

According to authorities, a car driver hit and injured a six-year-old girl as she was riding a scooter. The incident happened at night on East Moxee Avenue. As a result of the car-scooter crash, the girl suffered a broken rib, a broken arm and a laceration to her liver.

A collision between a larger vehicle and a smaller vehicle is likely to place the operator of the smaller vehicle at a disadvantage. Further, children in any accidents are likely to suffer more harm due to their small size. In this case, the girl on the scooter suffered several injuries in the collision. Preliminary reports indicated that at the time of the incident, the driver was not speeding and was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The exact cause of the accident has not been determined yet and it is unclear if the driver disobeyed any traffic laws.

However, in cases where speed, alcohol or distracted driving leads to an accident, the negligent driver of the car may be held responsible for damages. For those involved in an accident, dealing with the injuries resulting from the accident take precedence over all other matters. Nevertheless, when harm results to another due to the negligence of the operator of a vehicle, it may be worth holding him or her responsible for his or her negligent actions. An injured party may be entitled to compensation for medical bills stemming from the accident, any future medical cost, lost income, pain and suffering and more.

In this case, the family of the six-year-old is likely wondering what happened and why. They will likely deal with medical bills stemming from the incident and wonder if the little girl will fully recover from her injuries in the future.
